Our professor let us out early last night and I thought I would be able to make it home in time for the mookie on FT but missed it by 3 minutes :( It's just as well because those people have no idea who I am and they probably see dead money coming to the table, and they would be right because my track record with playing them is horrible! So I chose to go to a .05/.10 no limit table, and after an hour I walked away from the table with a whopping .25 profit! That's ok because ya gotta start somewhere, right??

Some Good Poker Playin'
Last night I went to a different place to play poker. I was soon very surprised by the way people were playing, they were actually playing poker, not just calling a hand because its their roommates birthday, or the anniversary of the first time getting laid! It was an actual pleasure playing with the people at my table. The night started out with about 45 people and I took tenth place. I'm not happy about my finish but I am happy with the way I played, there was not one thing I would have done differently if given the chance. The hand that I feel was the best play for me involved an all-in ahead of me, I look down at KsQs on the button, no callers to this point so I call (only 5% of my stack) and the small blind calls. Flop: Qd 6d 6s, we both check (at this point I don't like betting into a dry sidepot), turn is a Qc giving me the boat and small blind bets the pot, I sit back and put on my best "pained" look and call (obviously), river is 8d, small blind pushes all-in and I insta-call, the initial all-in mucks his cards and walks away from the table, the small blind flips his cards (now I'm thinking he either has the other queen or a six) and shows a rivered flush and actually starts to pull in the chips! I flip my queen and show him the boat and he just sinks. Kind of felt bad for him but only for a second, he should have never bet with a board that looks like that! Well I have class tonight so no poker for me unless the prof lets us out early.

My regular game cancelled for tonight!?!?
Well this is just great, tonight is my night to go play poker at a riverchasers event and my usual game has been canceled. Guess I will have to drive an extra half hour to play at another venue. Tomorrow I will update you guys on how I did and of course talk about the bad beat that took me out :p

Welcome to my Blog!
I decided it was time to start posting some of my thoughts, thoughts that are related mainly to poker and a little life in general. Now, it's not that I think of myself as some poker pro who has tidbits of wisdom to share with the world, or that my life is just so interesting that people would be fascinated by my thoughts, but rather this is a forum for me to learn and grow as a poker player. I will be talking mostly poker with the hopes of getting some feedback and learn from my mistakes.
I started playing poker about three years ago (yes, I am one of those people who saw it on TV and thought to myself "oh, I can do that!"). In the beginning, I was TERRIBLE but I could not stop playing. As time has gone by I have learned a lot but I have much more to learn. I play in a local amateur poker league called Riverchasers just outside of Philadelphia. I have played recently on Full Tilt and I definitely have a lot to learn about online play! Well that is all for now, I will try to post regularly and I look forward to your comments!
